USA, NY: Flying Bison Brewing Company brands sold to Hamburg Brewing Company
Brewery news

FX Matt Brewing Company says it has sold its Flying Bison Brewing Company brands to Hamburg Brewing Company, Spectrum News 1 reported on November 11.

The agreement means the brand, as well as all associated recipes and trademarks, will now be owned by Hamburg Brewing.

Company officials say this is to ensure Flying Bison remains under local control.

"Flying Bison has deep roots in Buffalo’s brewing history, and we’re proud of the role we played in supporting and sustaining that heritage over the past 15 years,” said Fred Matt, president and CEO of FX Matt Brewing Company. “Hamburg Brewing is a respected and community-focused craft brewery with a strong presence in Western New York. We’re confident they’re the right partner to carry the Flying Bison legacy forward."

Hamburg Brewing will continue to produce and distribute Flying Bison's beers throughout the region.

"We couldn’t be prouder to carry on the traditions of Flying Bison beer. There isn’t a brand that shouts Buffalo more and we are excited to return its ownership home to Western New York," John Russo, president, Hamburg Brewing, said.

As part of this, Flying Bison's taproom will be closing for good on Nov. 29.
