USA, IA: 515 Brewing Co. up for sale
The owners of 515 Brewing Co. in Clive just announced that the 12-year-old brewery is on the market, Des Moines Register reported on August 6.
The seven-barrel brewery with a tasting room that offers beer by the glass and take-home crowlers opened in 2013 at 7700 University Ave., Suite C, in Clive.
Owners Ryan Rost, Dave Ropte, Bailey Forrest, and Brandon Criger said they are ready to "step away from the brewing business."
"Opening a brewery and crafting our own beer was a dream come true," Rost said in a news release. “The most rewarding part was sharing our beer with our community. We are beyond grateful to everyone who has supported us. We’d love to see someone bring new life to 515 Brewing and take it to the next level.”
Longtime head brewer, Barb Becker, who has spent the last decade at 515 Brewing, also plans to retire. Becker helped the brewery earn two Great American Beer Festival awards for her Belgian quad beer, #Quadgoals, in 2017 and Mexican Spring beer in the fruit wheat beer category in 2016.
During her time at the brewery, she crafted more than 300 different beers.
The brewery isn’t closing just yet. The taproom features a greatest hits lineup that includes Mexican Spring, OJ IPA, Passé, and D.A.R.T. Dodger. The brewery’s final release? A corn lager called Maize the Force Be with You. The brewery has stopped producing new beers.
The owners are on the hunt for a new brewery owner, described as “someone with fresh vision and the passion to build on the strong foundation we’ve laid.”
