USA, MD: Silver Branch Brewing Company officially opens its new Rockville Beerworks location

Silver Branch Brewing Company has officially opened its new Rockville Beerworks location, Source of the Spring reported on June 2.

It was reported last year that the downtown Silver Spring-based brewery announced plans to expand to Rockville and relocate its brewing operations to the former True Respite Brewing Company location that closed in 2023.

The new Rockville Beerworks hosted its grand opening last weekend, featuring special offers, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and activities that included a DJ, games, face painting, and complimentary ice cream for kids.

The location (secretly) began its soft opening in mid-May.

The Rockville Beerworks is Silver Branch’s third location, following the opening of its original downtown Silver Spring brewery and taproom in March 2019 and expanding to Warrenton in 2023.

The downtown Silver Spring brewery reached total capacity within a year of opening in 2019; a merger with Old Ox Brewing was announced in April 2022 but was called off three months later.

To fund the expansion plans, Silver Branch owners Brett Robison and Christian Layke launched an investment campaign last year on Honeycomb Credit, the same crowdfunding platform that local coffee roaster Bump ‘n Grind used to successfully fund the expansion of its Analog Market community hub in downtown Silver Spring.

A total of $193,645 was raised during the campaign.

“We were running at capacity much sooner than expected and began considering different opportunities to expand, including partnering with other breweries, but we couldn’t find the right fit,” marketing director Chris Bonnell said in an interview with the Prince William Times in 2023.

Silver Branch Brewing Company’s Rockville Beerworks is located at 7301 Calhoun Place.
