Brewery news USA, IN: Chapman’s Brewing Co. planning new flagship brewery in Fort Wayne
Chapman’s Brewing Co. is planning to build a flagship brewery and taproom at the Electric Works mixed-use innovation district in downtown Fort Wayne. The brewery says the location will also serve as its headquarters, housing its corporate office and research and development operations, the Inside Indiana Business reported on November 23.

The brewery is expected to open next fall as part of the district’s $286 million first phase.

“We believe in Electric Works – what the campus has meant to Fort Wayne and Northeast Indiana, and the center of gravity it will become as the vision turns into reality,” Scott Fergusson, founder of Chapman’s Brewing Co., “Our new headquarters will have a totally unique, artisanal look and feel, and we want to bring our customers into the heart of it. We will capitalize on the energy and innovation at Electric Works, while continuing to serve customers throughout the region online, at our thriving brewery and taproom in Angola, and our regional taprooms in Columbia City, Huntington, Wabash, and at Fort Wayne International Airport.”

Chapman’s Brewery says it will occupy Building 27 at Electric Works. The brewery and taproom will offer family-friendly dining and retail space.

Brewery news Canada, NB: Tire Shack Brewing receives approval for ambitions expansion project
Two years after opening in an abandoned auto body shop, Tire Shack Brewing has received approval from Moncton city council for an ambitious expansion project, the Canadian Beer News reported on November 23.

Owners Alan Norman and Jerrica Kennedy have purchased a property adjacent to the current brewery at the corner of John St. and Dominion St. and are planning a 4,000-square-foot two-storey expansion that will include a year-round rooftop patio, an event space, a larger brewhouse, and the introduction of a barrel-aging program.

“Right now, we have a hard time being able to provide when restaurants and bars ask us for beer,” said Norman in an interview with Huddle. “This expansion will allow us to really grow our reach throughout the province.”

Timelines and other details of the project have yet to be confirmed, but should be announced in coming months.

Brewery news Canada, BC: Driftwood Brewery launches consolidated facility in Esquimalt

Located in a 59,000-square-foot space at 836 Viewfield Road, the new location includes a retail outlet, tasting lounge, kitchen and patio. In addition to the brewery, the facility also includes a distillery, with an inaugural batch of gin set to be released in coming weeks.

Driftwood Brewery is open from 12:00 noon to 9:00 PM daily.

Brewery news USA, TN: Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery closes its doors for good
Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery on Lower Broadway in Nashville has closed its doors for good, the Nashville Post reported on November 24.

The move comes on the heels of a Baltimore real estate firm buying the 50,303-square-foot building where the brewery is located at 111 Lower Broadway earlier this year.

In May, Continental Realty Corporation announced it bought the property — which was 100% leased and located within a mile of Fifth + Broadway, Nissan Stadium and Nashville Yards — for $36 million.

Built in 1930, the three-story mixed-use building was home to Rock Bottom on the first floor and rooftop, Wyndham-Margaritaville Vacation Club, the Glen Campbell Museum and Platinum Companies.

The Wyndham-Margaritaville Vacation Club and Glen Campbell Museum had nine years remaining on their leases; Platinum Companies had five years remaining and Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery's lease term would have been up in two years, according to the property's LoopNet listing.

A Rock Bottom spokesperson could not immediately be reached for comment.
