Brewery news USA, LA: Adopted Dog Brewing to open its doors on February 1
A new Lafayette brewery by the name of Adopted Dog Brewing has announced its opening date, KPEL 96.5 reported.

Located at 329 Dulles Drive, Adopted Dog Brewing is the only brewery located in the city of Lafayette—and while they will proudly serve a variety of craft beer that will be brewed in-house, they want customers to know that they are "so much more."

Adopted Dog Brewing is a concept from the mind of Ryan Pecot, owner of Tchoup's Midcity BBQ. While Pecot runs numerous businesses, Adopted Dog Brewing is more of a passion project; not just because of his love for brewing, but for the sense of community that Adopted Dog Brewing aims to provide for Lafayette.

While Pecot's daily business dealings range from real estate to restaurants, Adopted Dog Brewing is what he described as his "make the world a better place" project.

Located just a mile away from Cajun Field and a few blocks from Lafayette High School, ADB will feature more than just craft beer.

According to Pecot, the dog-friendly brewery will have a full food menu featuring burgers, flatbreads, salads, apps, and more. And for the non-drinkers, ADB will have home-brewed ADB root beer and Athletic's non-alcoholic craft beer available.

Brewery news USA, OH: Indian Lake Brewing Company already open in Indian Lake
Indian Lake residents will now be able to enjoy craft beer with the opening of the Indian Lake Brewing Company, the Peak of Ohio reported on January 28.

Located at 184 West Main Street in Russells Point, the Indian Lake Brewing Company is in a very spacious building for customers to enjoy craft beer, cider, and hard seltzers. The brewery will also feature wines from the Roundhouse Brewing Company and non-alcoholic beverages including homemade root beer.

The brewery is celebrating its opening weekend this weekend. They will be open from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Indian Lake Brewing Company is the sister company of the Roundhouse Depot Brewing Company in Bellefontaine.

Roundhouse owners and operators Ron and Kathy Troyer opened the brewery in Bellefontaine in 2018.

“It’s been a goal of Kathy and I’s for probably a little over two years now,” said Ron. “We started looking at the Lake as a possible second location, bringing craft beer to the Lake. We saw a void, with the people coming in from out of town from the big cities wanting craft beer. We thought it was a gold mine up here.”

The Troyers teamed up with Steve ...More info on site

Brewery news USA, OR: Backstop Bar & Grill gets approval for adding a brewery, taproom and Italian restaurant to its Canby location
Christmas came a couple of weeks late for Ken and Lori Arrigotti, owners of the Backstop Bar & Grill, as the Canby Planning Commission on January 9 approved the plans for their long-awaited expansion that would add a brewery, taproom and Italian restaurant with a second-floor rooftop bar and dining terrace to their existing building, The Canby Current reported on January 28.

The two-story, 11,230-square-foot extension will replace the existing, one-story building that formerly housed the offices of the Canby Herald, which the Arrigottis purchased from Pamplin Media Group in 2019 and have been leasing while they planned the brewery project and other aspects of the expansion.

It has long been Ken Arrigotti’s dream to bring the town’s first brewery to downtown Canby, and now, it appears the dream is finally coming true.

“This project has been a dream of mine for years and years, and it’s just amazing,” he told commissioners on January 9. “I feel fortunate how things have moved along to where we’re actually at the point where we’re at right now with this project.”

The planned expansion, which will also include a basement workspace and arcade on the second floor, is designed to mimic and complement the look and feel ...More info on site

Brewery news USA, OR: Newport Brewing Company for sale once again
Three-year-old Newport Brewing Company is for sale once again. The brewpub is one of only three breweries in the Oregon Coast’s third largest city of Newport, offerring a full service brewpub with fresh fish kitchen and a full liquor bar. Homebrewer turned pro, Brodie Becksted is the founder who in his day job as a real estate developer pieced together a prime area just above the downtown Newport shopping/tourism strip with a view to the bay, the New School Beer reported on January 31. When they opened in summer of 2019, Newport Brewing Company brought award-winning brewer Sam Zermeño to Oregon as their head brewer who put his stamp on many of the initial recipes before departing for Great Notion Brewing and his side project Brujos Brewing. Partially fueled by pandemic angst and disruption from the service industry and going without a full-time brewer, Brodie Becksted put the business and the property up for sale in April 2021. The New School article covering the Newport Brewing sale listing garnered Becksted and the business so much attention that he instead decided to pull it from the market because so many of their customers were querying the staff and new investors were lining ...More info on site

Brewery news Australia: Australian drinkers facing another significant rise in beer prices this week
Australian drinkers are facing another significant rise in beer prices this week, as a twice-yearly federal tax comes into effect, ABC reported on January 28.

The tax on beer will have jumped by about 8 per cent in the past six months — a record increase and "the largest in over 30 years", according to the Brewers Association of Australia.

The long-standing tax on beer is tied to inflation, and with the Consumer Price Index jumping 7.8 per cent over the year to December, it means a big jump in the price of beer.

The cost of draught and packaged beer will rise by 3.7 per cent from Wednesday, February 1, on top of last August's increase of 4 per cent.

Regional NSW publican Alistair Flower said it was getting harder for people to share a beer at their local.

"We don't think it should be seen as a luxury to come to your local and have a beer in the front bar," he said.

"With the prices they are getting to, it is looking like that.

"After COVID, the one thing we wanted to do was come back to the local and have a beer and that's becoming harder and harder for people as ...More info on site
