Ukraine increased exported volumes of beer in 2002 by 16.6% up to 108 million litres, Ukrpivo Association reported. Last year, Ukrainian breweries exported beer at a value of US$31.6 million. In Russia was exported 91 million litres of beer. The phenomenon is attributed to the rise of quality of Ukrainian beer.

At the same time Ukraine imported 14 million litres of beer in 2002, 39% more than in 2001 (2.65 million litres). The main importer is Russia, which brought in the country about 12 million litres. Ukraine also imports beer from Belgium, Austria, Bulgaria, Estonia, Ireland and Italy.

In 2002 Ukraine produced 31 litres of beer per capita, what means the beer output reached the value of 1985 year (14,98 million hl).
