Brewery news

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale has chosen 100 percent recycled paperboard packaging for its six pack beverage carriers. Previously the carriers were made from coated unbleached kraft. The company switched to the recycled paperboard this summer, according to the report from Recycling Today of November 29.

"The switch to 100 percent recycled paperboard has allowed us to avoid price increases for Sierra Nevada, while maintaining the performance of the carriers and aligning with the company's environmental focus," said Cory Ross, packaging manager, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. "By shortening the distance in our supply chain, we have been able to avoid shipping related price increases and the performance of the new board has allowed a slight decrease in caliper."

Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. is the supplier of the packaging. .
