Mumbai, India. A study conducted by AC Nielsen ORG-MARG of top 25 towns across the country has revealed that beer sales have gone up by almost 5% while spirits have declined by 4%. The growth in beer is basically driven by higher consumption in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore markets, which showed increases of 18%, 22% and 12% respectively.

United Breweries and Shaw Wallace, which together control nearly 60% of the 74m cases market, claim to have registered substantial increase in sales this year.
