Brewery news

The Lincoln Brewing Company is coming to Van Wert County, the Times Bulletin reported on April 26.

The company has purchased the old DeShia building, at 11830 U.S. 127.

They’re hoping to be open by mid-July.

“It really started…me and my husband Adam and then friends of ours, Jackie and Mark Goins — they really had the idea and wanted to do it. It was just kind of a pipe dream and she’s like, let’s do this. We started researching over a year ago, looked at a lot of buildings, saw this one, and fell in love with it and we’re excited that we finally were able to nail it down and make it our own,” said Brianna Geiger, taproom manager.

Mark Goins will serve as brewmaster.

“He’s gonna brew everything from porters to stouts to pilsners, to ales — all different kinds of craft beer. We’ll probably have some kind of wine option just for those that maybe don’t want to drink beer,” Geiger said.

Geiger emphasizes the Lincoln Brewing Company is not a bar.

“We want to have families come. We’re gonna have all kinds of stuff for kids to do games. We really have a nice yard to set up some yard games like cornhole and Yard Yahtzee and all that kind of stuff. We want the whole family to come because we want it to be a place of community and fellowship, and not a bar scene. It’s not going to be a rowdy, crazy place,” Geiger said.

People will also be able to sample cuisine from local food trucks.

“It’s not going to be a restaurant. It’s gonna be craft beer only. We’re not going to have food, but we will have local food trucks come in and you’ll be able to order food. We hope to partner with local restaurants, and maybe work out delivery deals or specials. We really want to work with other businesses in the community and really show support to each other,” Geiger said.

Geiger says they plan on being open from Wednesday through Saturday with probable hours from 4 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and on Saturday from noon to 10 p.m.
