Brewery news

In a recent bittersweet announcement on social media, Mission’s Sandhills Brewing bid farewell to one of their brewers, Robb Mann. Mann was instrumental in helping brew hundreds of batches as well as working the bar and doing various projects around the brewhouse.

But it’s not all sad news, Flatland KC reported on December 20.

Mann is leaving Sandhills to open his own brewery. He’ll be running the new Boho Brewing, located in Parkville. Originally slated to open in the fall of 2022, the brewery dealt with inevitable construction delays. While there’s no definitive opening date just yet, they were in the process of hiring bartenders a few weeks ago, which is a tell-tale sign of opening sooner rather than later.

Short for Bohemian, Boho will put an emphasis on Czech lagers, hazy IPAs and pale ales, West Coast IPAs and pale ales, and German-style beers. Based on how delicious the beers are at Sandhills, expectations are high for Boho. Be sure to follow their social media pages for updated information on their grand opening.

Sadly, with the opening of a new brewery comes the closing of another.

Lenexa’s Lost Evenings Brewing Co. posted on its social media that Friday Dec. 23 will be its last day in business. The brewery, which opened in June 2020, did not cite any specific reasons for the closure. The brewery will be open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for anyone who’d like to visit one more time.

While the brewery is out of cans and growlers, customers can refill a growler they already own.
