Focused on community, family and fun — Rosko’s Brew House, located at 601 Pine St. in Williamsport, has recently opened its doors to the public, the Sun Gazette reported on July 9.

The brew house, located in one of Williamsport’s historic buildings, offers a variety of craft beer, games, indoor and outdoor seating and more.

Husband and wife team, Adam and Samantha Roskowski have had a long time vision of the Brew House.

“The business in a sense is like a reflection of ourselves,” said Adam.

“We have a young family, we’re very family based and community based. We kind of tried to really spin everything together. Because the values of the business are community, family, and fun,” Samantha.

The two met in Pittsburgh while in college. Adam is originally from the area.

“We kind of always had this gravitational pull. My family was trying to get us to move back — it seemed like a good opportunity to move back. And more approachable to open up a business like this in a smaller city than Pittsburgh. It was kind of a culmination of a lot of different things,” Adam said.

The house, which had become vacant at the right time, was a perfect fit for their vision.

“It worked out great. We kind of got lucky in that sense, it was exactly what we were looking for. A small place that kind of has a little bit of an urban feel like you might get in a bigger city. You can just come relax and drink beers,” Adam said.

The building, which is over 150 years old, is full of unique qualities.

“We love the character, the building, and I think we’ve always thought it was really charming the different characteristics on the outside and the inside,” Adam said.

“We wanted to bring something that we’ve explored in bigger cities to Williamsport — there’s not a ton of places that are like small, niche micro breweries. We lived in Pittsburgh for a while so we’re trying to bring some of that brewery culture here,” Samantha said.

Adam got into brewing around 18-years-old when his step-dad bought him an introductory beer kit.

“I always thought it’d be cool to have a brewery one day,” Adam said.

Since then, he has gained more professional experience.

“I went to a brewing school in Chicago for a couple of weeks — that kind of gave me a bit more professional and technical experience, in addition to home brewing for those years as well. When I moved back, I bought a little bit of a nicer home brewing setup, and just kind of geared up to get ready to hopefully work something out on a professional scale,” Adam said.

During their first opening weekend, the Brew House filled with families and people of all ages.

“It’s like a family setting. We have two little boys. There were little kids running around out back. There were a variety of ages, from young to middle aged and older. It was nice to see the variety of people enjoying themselves,” Samantha said.

The Brew House currently has four beers on tap, and will continue to increase their selection.

“We have a variety of beers. We have an Amber Ale, which is a darker beer — it’s actually one of our probably best selling ones so far. Even though it’s darker, it’s pretty easy to drink. We have a Pilsner, which is a lighter beer, similar to some of your typical light German lager. We have Witbier, which is a wheat beer made with orange peel and coriander. And we have an American-style IPA,” Adam said.

Although the Brew House does not yet have set open hours, they will continue to have open house days and weekends, as well as private events.

“Community based events, different nonprofits or clubs, things like that. They can reach out to us. And we’d be happy to do that even on a night when we’re not open. We’re open to private events and giving back to the community,” Adam said.
