A brewery has plans to open in Orlando's Milk District, the Orlando Business Journal reported on February 12.

Twelve Talons Beerworks LLC announced plans on social media to open a brewery at 2807 E. South St. in the former South Street Coin Laundry. The existing building includes a 1,800-square-foot laundromat and 600-square-foot retail and office space.

David Mander with Lake Mary-based Results Real Estate Partners LLC was the broker for the property and confirmed to Orlando Business Journal that the full building was sold. A deed for the sale had not been recorded in Orange County documents as of publication.

Representatives with the brewery were not immediately available for comment on additional details.

Zac Alfson, executive director of The Milk District main street district where the brewery will reside, told OBJ the district is excited the space will have a more active use than before. "We welcome them to the district. The more, the merrier."

Alfson added that the brewery will add to the bars and restaurants already in the district near downtown. Twelve Talons will join Sideward Brewing Co., which opened in March 2019 at 210 N. Bumby Ave., as the district's breweries.

Twelve Talons is not the only new brewery in the works for Orlando. Deadwords Brewing Co. LLC plans to open at 23 N. Orange Blossom Trail by early summer 2021 in a converted army surplus store.

According to the Brewers Association, Florida has the ninth most craft breweries in the U.S., with 329 as of 2019, the most recent data available. For that year, breweries had a nearly $3.82 billion economic impact in the state.
