Canada: Germination rates for this year's two-row barley harvest in western Canada are down sharply from last year, according to preliminary harvest quality data assembled by the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC). Average germination rates in the three-day 4mL test were down just one to two points from last year, ranging between 97% for AC Metcalfe; 98% for CGC Kendall, Harrington, Stein, and Merit; and 99% germination for CDC Copeland and CDC Stratus.
