The Industrial group European Drinks announced their intention to spend at least US$ 40 million in Romanian beer industry, Interfax reported. The same source reveals that European Drinks have recently signed a contract of about EUR 30 million with Germany’s Krones, one of the largest beer production lines in the world, for building a new brewery in Oradea, Romania. The brewery is expecting to produce over 1 million hectolitres per year.

The Romanian beer market is estimated at US$ 500 million a year, and its output is about 12 million hectolitres a year. The main Romanian beer producers are Ursus and Ciuc, which produce 1 million and 1.5 million hectolitres respectively.
