Brewery news

Moosehead Breweries has confirmed the location of its upcoming small batch brewery, a project that was originally announced in June, Canadian Beer News reported on September 19.

In a press release issued on September 19, the company announced that the facility will be situated on the Port of Saint John, in a location on Water Street adjacent to Pugsley slip.

Set to open in 2017 on the occasion of Moosehead’s 150th anniversary, the facility is described as follows:

The new small-batch brewery will be a centre for education and innovation. The 10,000 square foot space will include two small-scale brewing systems, allowing the company to explore new product development and new brewing techniques. The open-concept design of the brewery will accommodate tours and training, a tap room and a retail area for merchandise and beer sales.

Moosehead’s brewers will use the small-scale brewing systems to create a new series of small batch brews that will be available for sale at the new brewery, at licensees and at retail outlets.

News of the announcement was leaked over the weekend by CBC News based the photo above which was tweeted by Mayor Don Darling, and which features Darling, Saint John MP Wayne Long, and Moosehead executives Andrew and Patrick Oland on Water Street.
