The Valcour Brewing Co. has announced an opening date.

The brewery told WPTZ NewsChannel 5's Liz Strzepa it will have a soft opening on January 16.

Valcour Brewing purchased the Old Stone Barracks on the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base in 2014.

The building has been undergoing renovations for more than a year. It was built in 1838.

The craft brewery is owned by married retired Army officers Terry Schmaltz and Mary Theresa Pearl.

The owners said they were still waiting on some equipment and beers before holding an official grand opening.

City health inspectors were at the brewery on January 14.

The brewery also features a tasting room, event hall and seven rental rooms for overnight guests.

According to its Facebook page, Valcour will start with four beers. A kitchen and food menu were also in the works.

Valcour Brewing Co. is on Ohio Avenue.

Another business owner is also preparing to open Oval Craft Brewing on U.S. Oval.
