Brewery news

Bryn Mawr Brewing Company has signed a lease to turn the abandoned Glenwood Inglewood water bottling plant into a craft brewery, KARE reported on July 28.

"It looks like potential," said Dan Justesen as he entered his empty future brewery.

Brewing equipment is already on order, with plans for a winter 2016 opening.

The Bryn Mawr Brewery will join roughly 100 of Minnesota’s craft breweries already open.

Justesen - who recently sold his interest in another brewery - insists there's room for another.

"What we're going to do is open a little bit larger than most that start out. We're going to actually create a 50 barrel brew house, which will make it probably the sixth largest brewhouse in the state," said Justesen.

The brewery plans to use the same natural springs that used to supply the water plant, with the focus on traditional beer varieties.

Justesen believes he's found an ideal location - at the edge of Wirth Park, within view of downtown and with a beer garden at the banks of Bassett Creek.

Justesen is hopeful a recent change in the elevator's ownership means development could be on the horizon for Fruen Mill too.

"I see Glenwood and the whole area coming out of downtown turning over," Justesen said.
