Brewery news

Pedernales Brewing Co. is coming off another impressive showing for its lineup of beers, winning four medals at the Los Angeles International Beer Competition, mysanantonio.com reported on May 1.

The Fredericksburg-based brewery won gold medals for its Lobo Negro and Classic IPA, silver for Robert Earl Keen Honey Pils and bronze for the Lobo Oktoberfest.

Since the beginning of the year, Pedernales has won three gold medals, four silver, one bronze and one Best of Show honour from the Ensenada Beer Competition, which took place in Mexico City in March. And since June 2014, the brewery has raked in six golds, seven silvers, two bronze, one Best of Class award, one Best of Show and one People’s Choice, said Lee Hereford, the company’s president and CEO.

Aside from all the honours, the company is recording double-digit growth and expects to ramp up production another 20 percent by the third quarter. Two 80-barrel ferments will be delivered to the brewery this summer. Robert Earl Keen Honey Pils is the brewery’s top selling beer.
