Spencer Devon Brewing will open for business on April 24, Fredericksburg reported.

Owner Shawn Phillips, who has worked on opening the downtown Fredericksburg restaurant and brewery for more than a year, will hold a ribbon cutting at 5 p.m., followed by dinner service.

Master brewer John Ritenour and assistant brewer and events coordinator Mariah Gavin have been working since February to brew the first seven beers offered: 3-4-5 Pilsner, Rappahannock River Water Brown Ale, Rocko’s Milk Stout, Bitter Sweet IPA, Fall Line APA, Olde Towne Ale and Sunken Road Belgian Blonde.

Ritenour said their goal with the brewery is “to make a beer for everyone.”

The restaurant is located in the former Fatty J’s space at 106 George St.
“If I could give people the sense of community I felt during the build-out, that would be phenomenal,” Phillips said.

Cunningham said the brewery is participating in a grain share with those farms, in which spent grain from Spencer Devon is used to feed animals. He said it helps that community “come full circle.”
