Bluestone Brewing Company broke ground on April 6th at 19 Pitney St. in South Waverley, PA and owner Brady Liechty said over two years of planning are paying off, TheDailyReview.com reported on April 7.

Liechty, who teaches business at Athens High School, began homebrewing when his wife Amanda bought him a homebrew kit for Christmas in 2011 and his interest grew to the point of starting the brewery.

He said the demand for locally made craft beer encouraged him to provide the Valley area with beer, hard cider, and birch beer made by locals who care about their final product.

After swimming through paperwork, Brady Liechty said the brewery is projected to be finished around Memorial Day with an August opening and is expected to begin serving its signature drinks by Labor Day.

The name "Bluestone" comes from the locally available stone that, according to Brady Liechty, architects and designers use to create "a high quality, distinctive appeal for their desired projects."

"The goal at Bluestone Brewing is to offer the same high quality and distinctive beers, ciders, and service in which people can notice the quality, while appreciating our local environment," he said.

Bluestone Brewing Company is being built by the Liechtys and Kennedys with most of the materials coming from local businesses.

"Bluestone Brewing is owned and operated by local families who live, work, and coach in the community and is strongly committed to supporting other local businesses and our local area," Brady Liechty said.
