Brewery news

The Santa Fe Brewing Company announced on September, 4 it will increase its production capacity from 18,000 barrels of beer per year to more than 200,000 barrels by the year 2020, and that the expansion will add up to 85 new jobs to the company.

New Mexico's Economic Development Department also announced it will invest $250,000 through the Local Economic Development Act to help the brewery expand.

The brewery is poised to add 55,000 square feet to its operation, and will look to increase its national and international distribution. The company currently pays the state about $120,000 in tax money per year, but after the expansion, taxes paid will amount to about $263,000 annually.

The first phase of the expansion includes a new lab, packaging hall, loading dock and a new beer garden with a larger tasting room. The second phase will include adding a new brew house and more warehouse space.

Santa Fe Brewing Company is the state's oldest microbrewery, founded in 1988.
