Brewery news

A new business is brewing in Denison, TX, a micro-brewery that the city says will promote tourism and help the local economy, kxii.com reported on August 8.

The brewery Ivanhoe Ale Works will be located right on Main Street next to Homestead Winery and Divollis. It is planned to look like a mid 20th Century movie theatre, bringing back the building's original look, but behind the doors owner Gabe Parker says they will be serving up wine and brewing beer.

"All sorts of craft beers, but we know we will have a pale ale. We'll have India Pale Ale, which is IPA and we'll have some stouts, but we're going to do a bunch of different beers like gluten free and beer with different honey taste," Parker said.

Parker, owner of Homestead Winery, says his new business will bring something new to Texas.

"We'll be the only ones that will at the same location will have a winery and a brewery, but that will probably change once people see our success. We hope," Parker said.

Parker expects business will overflow to surrounding shops in Downtown Denison, something both many residents and business owners are excited about.

"What Denison looks for and what Denison needs is people. People coming downtown enjoying what we have," Chuck Pool, Owner of Main St. Lumber Co., said.

"It's great for Downtown Denison, but you know anything that we can get down here to bring people down here is great and I think that will really draw some people in," Denison resident Shane Hill said.

Ivanhoe Ale Works is expected to open in December.
