Brewery news

The popularity of craft brewing in the United States is skyrocketing. An estimated 13.2 million barrels of craft beer was produced in 2012.

And last week, a new brewery, Great Raft Brewing launched several craft beers at bars and restaurants throughout Shreveport and Bossier City in preparation for the opening on December 20, according to Shreveport Times.

Each day last week, Andrew Nations and his wife, Lindsay Nations, co-founders of Great Raft Brewing presented their Shreveport-produced beer brands for the public’s consumption.

Great Raft featured three of its flagship beers: Reasonably Corrupt, a black lager, Commotion, an American pale ale, and Southern Drawl, a pale lager.

For the Nations, the launch is a first step along the path to a greater goal of expansion.

“We will stay at 20 accounts for a while to make sure we keep up with demand and see how much beer Shreveport wants to drink,” Andrew Nations said. “In February, we will be canning.”

The entrepreneurs plan to open a tasting room, a place where customers will be able to enjoy beer while watching and learning about the brewing process, in their brewery this week.

“We’re going to open it on December 20,” Lindsay Nations said.
