Mispillion River Brewery is almost ready to open its doors, and plans to welcome the public to its 5,000-square-foot facility, equipped with a full-service brewery and tasting room on November 15, reported Milford Beacon on October 17.

Co-owner Eric Williams of Milford dreamt up the idea a couple years ago after growing tired of working in the corporate world. His love for brewing beer and desire to run his own business blossomed into a business plan supported by his wife Megan, and four other co-owners, Tammy and Scott Perlot of Smyrna and Don and Marti Brooks of Milton.

“We don’t do this for the money, we do it because the business needs good people here and we’re definitely passionate about beer,” Williams said. “I think the people in Milford are excited and proud to have a brewery opening up in their town.”

When Mispillion Brewery opens next month, Williams expects to offer new customers eight styles of beer: IPA, double IPA, a brown ale, molasses imperial stout, lemon grass Saison, Scottish Gruit and pale wheat.

“There’re a lot of options for people who are used to labeled beer to cross over to beer with a lot of flavors,” Williams said. “We’ll be able to experiment and give customers something different every week.”

Mispillion River Brewing has also recruited brewmaster Jared Barnes from Florida and hopes that they can top the 43 varieties of beer that he brewed last year, Williams said.

However, they are still waiting on the largest piece of equipment, a 15-barrel production system that will allow them to produce larger quantities of brew for distribution. It will be at least five to six weeks before that system is in place and ready to brew, Williams said.

With three of the six owners holding Delaware State Fair awards for their craft brews, and the experience of Barnes, co-owner Tammy Perlot expects to offer customers a variety of flavors and aromas that will keep them coming back.
