Brewery news

SweetWater Brewing Co. boosted sales 15 percent in 2012 and plans to enter the Virginia market this year, bizjournals.com reported on January, 8.

The Atlanta craft brewery reported it sold about 110,000 barrels last year, with most of the growth coming from its existing sales footprint. In the fourth quarter, it expanded distribution to various new Southeastern markets including: Tampa, Orlando, Sarasota and Ft. Myers, Fla.; Rock Hill, S.C.; and Cookeville and Clarksville, Tenn.

In 2013, SweetWater plans to expand in Florida and Tennessee and enter Virginia. And as it completes its $19 mln brewery expansion in Atlanta this year, it plans a new black India Pale Ale called “Some Strange.” The beer will be on store shelves in the first quarter of 2013 as part of its limited run Dank Tank series.
