Brewery news

Kaua‘i Island Brewing Company (KIBC) has opened in the former Waimea Brewing Company at Port Allen Center in ‘Ele‘ele, Hawaii, The Drinks Business Review reported on August, 7.

Also a brewpub, the brewery is constructed in a 4,000 square feet warehouse, featuring a brewing facility with ten serving tanks and four fermenters, a 20ft bar, kitchen and 60-seat restaurant.

The bar serves Oregon-brewed beers, domestic beers and KIBC and guest-crafted beers on tap. Growlers of 64oz size are also available.

The brewery's beer portfolio includes Canefire Red, Captain Cook IPA, Leilani Light, Na Pali Pale Ale, Pakala Porter and Wai'ale'ale Gold Ale.

Co-owners Bret Larson, Janice, Dave Curry and Christina plan to further expand distribution of the beers.

Larson said that within a year, the company will start selling its beers in kegs to local restaurants and taverns, and within two years, it will sell them in bottles or cans island wide, and within five years, expand the sales statewide.

"We'd like to start off slow, test the market and tailor our product to our customers' tastes," he added.
