Brewery news

The beer is flowing at Cape May Brewing Company, in fact they need more equipment to keep up with demand, capemaycountyherald.com reported on August, 7.

Lower Township Council approved an increase in an economic development loan to Cape May Brewing Company from an initial loan of $68,165 to $129,512.

The microbrewery opened in March 2011 in a 1,500 square foot warehouse at the county airport and began selling beer in July of that year.

Ryan Krill, an owner of Cape May Brewing Company, said the company has “made a tremendous amount of progress.” He said the brewery is completing its first full summer of business.

“The amount of demand for our product is kind of overwhelming,” said Krill.

He said Cape May Brewery has seven accounts and has trouble keeping up with that demand. In addition, a tasting room is open to the public on Saturdays and the brewery can’t keep up with that demand, said Krill.

“We’ll sell out on any given Saturday,” he said.

Cape May Brewery had an initial economic development loan to expand its capacity fourfold. An increase in the loan will allow the brewery to purchase equipment to increase beer production, said Krill.

“It won’t allow us to fulfil everybody but it will allow us to catch up with what we’ve got,” he said.

The loan will allow the brewery to purchase three Brite tanks that will significantly streamline the production process and eliminate the need for future and costly fermentors.
