Brewery news

In spite of Vladimir Putin’s promise earlier this year to bring beer back to stadiums, the Russian Football Union (RFU) does not plan to allow beer at soccer events in the nearest future, yuga.ru reported on July, 18.

“It will be possible in the future, when we finally come to civilized consumption of beer,” Sergey Cheban, Executive Director of the Russian Football Union, is quoted as saying.

Russia will be hosting the soccer World Cup for the first time in 2018.

Under Russian law, beer sales are prohibited at stadiums. Banners advertising beer are also not allowed on football pitches. However, brewers are major sponsors of FIFA, the World Cup's governing body.
