Brewery news

A group of Rehoboth Beach chefs have collaborated with 16 Mile Brewery to create a limited-release beer with local ingredients, Delmarvanow.com reported on July, 05.

Eastern Chef Brew (ECB) is a bitter ale brewed with figs, coriander and sumac and is about 5.5 percent alcohol by volume.

Hari Cameron of Muse, Meghan and Lion Gardner of Blue Moon said selecting the ingredients was a group effort.

"We know that figs are coming into season right now and we thought about the different flavors that would pair well with figs," Cameron said.

Those different flavors were the sumac and coriander, two ingredients that provide citrus notes to the beverage.

16 Mile Brewery co-owner Chad Campbell said the emphasis was on keeping the product local.

"The local economies are going to drive how successful our communities are," he said. "There's longer term benefits from that."

ECB is the fourth and latest announced beverage in the brewery's Collaboration Brews for a Cause series, for which the brewery works with local organizations to produce beers for charity.

ECB is expected to be released in draft mid-July.
