E-Malt.com News article: Canada, NS: Nova Scotia Liquor Corp. beer sales go down
Brewery news

Beer sales were down, but wine and spirits sales were up last year, the Nova Scotia Liquor Corp. announced on June, 29.

The rainy weather that plagued the province last summer put a damper on beer sales according to figures released by the Nova Scotia Liquor Corp.

During the 12 months ending March 31, 2012, the corporation sold 811,000 hectolitres of beer, wine and spirits, down 2.1 per cent from the previous year.

The lousy summer weather was the villain, Rick Perkins, the corporation's vice-president of communications, said.

“We sell a lot of beer year-round,” he said. “But when the weather is bad, like it was last summer, it impacts beer sales.”

The amount of beer sold dropped by 2.8 per cent during the past 12 months compared to a year ago.
