E-Malt.com News article: USA, NJ: Turtle Stone Brewery to offer its beer to the public
Brewery news

A beer launch planned for this weekend is the first time Turtle Stone Brewery will offer its beer for sale to the public, The Daily Journal reported on April, 18.

“We are a new production micro-brewery located in Vineland. We aren’t currently open to the public, so everything we produce now is in kegs for sale to bars,” said Becky Pedersen, a co-owner with Ben Battiata.

They founded Turtle Stone Brewing Co. in 2006, then launched it in an old warehouse on South West Boulevard in 2011.

They took their time traveling and researching, speaking with breweries and beer pub owners, and acquiring equipment and a location.

That’s why they’re really excited to now have an opportunity to share their three newest beers with the public.

Turtle Stone operates as a production brewery, which means they make and bottle beer for sale, but not as a restaurant or bar.

Battiata has been home brewing since 2000 and, like at home, the brewery’s concoctions will often play off his tastes. Since Battiata likes things such as coffee and chocolate, expect to see those flavors in his brews, he said.

Battiata says a red ale that will be on sale is actually going to be the house ale at Oar House. He said the Red Rye Ale is basically a “red, hoppier ale”.

He said the second beer being brewed for the event is an American Stout.

“It’s an oatmeal stout, a nice, roasty stout,” he said.

The third beer is very different, he said.

Battiata created a beer inspired by the Caribbean and hibiscus flowers. The drink is steeped with hibiscus flowers, sugar, lime and only a small amount of alcohol, he said.
