Brewery news

New Belgium Brewing will open the state of Michigan for distribution in late August, 2012, Craftbeer.com reported on March, 12.

This will bring New Belgium’s distribution footprint to 29 states and the District of Columbia. The Fort Collins maker of Fat Tire has inked deals with 22 Michigan distributors to carry its beer.

“We’re incredibly excited to start shipping beer to Michigan,” said New Belgium spokesman, Bryan Simpson. “It’s a craft savvy state with a strong tradition of producing creative and innovative beers. We look forward to joining that community and helping to grow the fan base for craft beer.”

New Belgium will roll out 22-oz bottles initially with draft and 12-oz to follow. Collaborative plans with Michigan brewers are in development.
