USA: Adolph Coors Co. and Coors Brewing Company have a new addition to their boards of directors. Peter H. Coors, chairman of Adolph Coors Company (ACC) and its principal subsidiary, Coors Brewing Company (CBC), announced on December 18 the election of Randall Oliphant to the boards of directors of the two companies. (Coors Brewing Company is a principal subsidiary of Adolph Coors Company.)

Mr. Oliphant, 44, brings 20 years of management, financial and operational experience to Coors. He is the former President & CEO of Barrick Gold Corporation, one of the world's largest mining companies. During his tenure as CEO, Barrick achieved its goal of being North America's most profitable gold producer. Mr. Oliphant also led an international expansion for Barrick into South America, Australia and Africa, and created a pipeline of new mines that has positioned the company for future growth. Mr. Oliphant was with the company for 16 years. Prior to Barrick, he was a Chartered Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Mr. Oliphant's activities include directorships and advisory positions with corporations, not-for-profit organizations and international governments.

Founded in 1873, Adolph Coors Company is the thirdlargest U.S. brewer and the world's ninth-largest brewer. The company sells its products in North America, Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia. In Canada, Coors Light is the country's top-selling light beer. Coors Brewers Limited is the second-largest brewer in the United Kingdom, with the U.K.'s leading brand, Carling. Adolph Coors Company stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol RKY.
