The Slovenian Supreme Court has rejected an appeal by the brewing giant Interbrew to overturn a lower court decision that threw out its lawsuit against the country’s leading brewer for illegal business practices, Slovenian press posted on December 02.

Interbrew had sued the Slovenian brewer Lasko after it acquired a 48% stake in the country's second largest brewery, Union. Interbrew owned a 41% share in Union itself, and said that the acquisition by Lasko was illegal and violated European Union anti-monopoly laws.

However, Supreme Court Judge Marko Sorli said: “The court dismisses the appeal as allegations made by Interbrew have been comprehensively and adequately responded to" in the original decision in July.
