The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has prolonged quotas on grain exports to March 31, 2011 and increased them by 1.5 million tonnes, Interfax-Ukraine reported on December, 8.

According to Ukrainian Agriculture Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk, the quotas on wheat exports were increased by 500,000 tonnes, and those on corn exports by one million tonnes.

Earlier, the Economy Ministry of Ukraine proposed that quotas on grain exports, introduced by the government until December 31, 2010, be prolonged until March 31, 2011 and increased by 1.5 million tonnes, to 4.2 million tonnes. The government proposed quotas on corn exports to be increased by one million tonnes, to three million tonnes, and those on wheat exports by 500,000 tonnes, to one million tonnes. The quota on barley exports remains unchanged at 200,000 tonnes.

Ukraine from October 19 until December 31, 2010 imposed quotas on the export of 2.7 million tonnes of grain, including 500,000 tonnes of wheat, 200,000 tonnes of barley, two million tonnes of corn, and 1,000 tonnes of each of rye and buckwheat.
