The Belgian Interbrew acquired 12 % from the shares of Spanish brewer Damm. This acquisition has the purpose , by the declarations of Interbrew,to strengthen the positions of Belgian giant on the Spanish beer market. The appreciation that the purchase of a 12 % stake in Damm will give Interbrew the possibility to reinforce its position in Spain , results from the fact that Damm is the leader on the Catalonian beer market and is the third brewery from Spain, controlling 16,6 % of the Spanish beer market.
