Brewery news

Heineken UK is to take over the sales, marketing and distribution of Sol and Dos Equis beers from Molson Coors UK as from October 4, Off Licence News reported on July, 21.

The move follows the acquisition by the Heineken group of FEMSA, the Mexican brewer of the brands.

The final order date for both brands from Molson Coors will be September 29 and all committed trade support will be honoured by the company until that date. Heineken UK will take over order capture from September 30 and deliveries from October 4.

A statement issued by Heineken UK said: “A mutually-agreed transfer plan is under way, and in the meantime it is business as usual for the supply of both Sol and Dos Equis.

“Both parties are committed to a smooth and efficient handover and to minimise any disruption to customers.”

Sol was one the seminal brands of the world beer category after exploding on to the UK market in the late 1980s.
