Brewery news

C&C Group is understood to have turned down the chance to buy the Bass Ale brand, The Independent communicated on May, 30.

The Bass brand’s owner, Belgian brewing giant AB InBev, has put it on the market with a price tag of just €20 mln. Bass was once the top-selling beer in Britain.

However, C&C, which was seen as one of the main potential suitors, is believed to have ruled itself out of the race.

C&C acquired AB InBev’s Tennant’s lager brand in 2009.
