E-Malt.com News article: Ukraine: Excise tax on beer increased as from July, 1

As from July 1, Ukraine’s excise tax on beer rose by 93.5% to UAH0.60 per litre, Kyiv Post communicated on July, 1.

The law increasing the duty was adopted by the parliament on June 3. President Victor Yushchenko initially vetoed the law, but finally signed it last week.

The law also introduces the annual indexation of the excise rates according to inflation from 2010, and not from 2012.

According to the State Statistics Committee, in January to May beer production in Ukraine came to 12.1 million hl, which is 8.8% less year-over-year.
