Brewery news

Delhi's finance minister A K Walia on January, 6 ordered an enquiry into irregularities that have surfaced in the grant of L-53 licences for sale of beer to departmental stores, The Times of India communicated on January, 7.

The excise department had prepared a merit-wise list of 104 applicants for allotment of L-53 licences.

A scrutiny of this list has revealed that out of 31 departmental stores selected for these particular licences, 10 had a single authorized signatory and same departmental store name.

Apart from this, a few departmental stores have also been granted licences whose names do not figure in the merit-wise list of 104 applicants.
