The barley crop was 93 percent headed, compared with 88 percent last year and the 5-year average of 90 percent, USDA reported on July 22. Heading was nearly complete or virtually complete in all States. The crop condition crop deteriorated in all States, due to abnormally high temperatures and dry conditions.
