Brewery news

The variety of Russian-made Baltika beers grew by 21% in Latvia in the first half of 2008, Baltic Course cited the company’s spokesperson Olga Machugina on August 12.

The volume sold surpassed 22.6 thousand hl of beer.

It was reported that Latvia took 57% of the brewery’s turnover in the Baltic States. Of the three countries, the 21% retail growth for Latvia is the highest, and as Baltika export administrator Soslan Kulchiyev pointed out, taking into account the "stagnation tendency in the Baltic beer market", this figure is a very good result.

In mid-June, the company began offering the Latvian market its new low-alcohol content "Baltika lite" product, informs LETA.

Baltika is Russia's biggest producer of consumer goods, and beer market champion since 1996. It owns 11 breweries in Russia.
