E-Malt.com News article: USA: Bass Hall director moving to San Antonio brewery complex post
Brewery news

After 15 years managing the Bass Performance Hall, Paul Beard is moving to San Antonio to manage the historic Pearl Brewery complex there, Dallas Business Journal published May 21.

During his tenure in Fort Worth, Beard played a pivotal role in shaping the acclaimed design for the hall and in guiding its programming and operational success.

He will have similar opportunities to shape the 22-acre Pearl Brewery complex, which is undergoing redevelopment to become a gathering place on the river where urban living, food, entertainment and education come together with programming and events focused on arts, culture and learning, said Ken Halliday, chief operating officer of Silver Ventures, which owns site.

At Pearl, where he will start mid-July, Beard will help shape the complex of multiple small, intimate venues - Pearl Stable and other indoor meeting space, as well as outdoor plazas and the amphitheater planned as part of the San Antonio River improvements project - into a platform for festivals and cultural and educational events and conferences.

Before arriving in Fort Worth in 1993 to oversee planning and construction in advance of Bass Hall's 1998 opening, Beard served as managing director of the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach, Fla., and as assistant to the director of the Madison Civic Center in Madison, Wis.
