Barley news

Ukraine does not need restrictions for grain export till the end of the current season and in the next season (July-June), according to the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine Yaroslav Gadzalo, AgriMarket reported May 19.

Y. Gadzalo noted that available carry-over stocks of grain (8.6 mln tonnes) and potential possibilities of Ukraine on grain transshipment allows forecasting additional export of 2.2 mln tonnes of grain till the end of the current season, including 0.5 mln tonnes of barley.

The experts of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy consider such export volume would not influence the food security of the country and would not lead to grain deficiency.

At that, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy will initiate signing of a memorandum with grain traders concerning mutual activity on state and regional grain resources development and non-admission of grain export in the volumes, exceeding foreseen ones by the balance of supply and demand for 2008/09 season.
