Brewery news

The ANC Youth League (ANCYL) will meet representatives of beer-manufacturing giant SABMiller today to discuss the league's proposal to ban beer advertising and sales on Sundays, Sabcnews reported March 26. As part of their campaign to rid people of alcohol abuse the ANCYL earlier met the South African Alcohol Traders Association to discuss their campaign.

The league's spokesperson, Zizi Kodwa, says they expect SABMiller to listen to their motivating factors for the proposal. The league and other stakeholders such as NGOs, health practitioners, researchers and other interested parties will meet on April 17 and 18 to discuss the impact of alcohol abuse on South African citizens.
