E-Malt.com News article: Austria: Stiegl Brewery reports 1.3% growth in beer production
Brewery news

The private Stiegl brewery in Salzburg has reported that its turnover increased from 107 million Euros in 2006 to 112 million Euros in 2007 and that its production went up by 1.3 per cent to 960,000 hectoliters of beer, Wiener Zeitung reported January 18.

It claimed that its brand "Stiegl-Goldbräu" was the number-one bottled beer in Austria for the first time last year.

Firm chief Robert Schraml said that Stiegl would increase its reliance on reusable, 0.5-liter bottles and market 95 per cent of its beer in them.

Stiegl is planning to brew its beer using exclusively Austrian ingredients by 2012.

It signed a long-term supply agreement with the Mühlviertel hop-raisers' association in summer, 2007.
