SABMiller plc has altered the name of its Russian subsidiary to SABMiller RUS from Kaluga Brewing Company, the global brewing concern said in a statement, according to Interfax, November 12.

The company's brewery in Kaluga has capacity to produce 6 million hectoliters of beer per year. SABMiller said at the start of 2007 that it was planning to build a second brewery in Ulyanovsk with capacity to produce 3 million hectoliters per year. The brewery is slated to open in spring 2009.

According to AC Nielsen, SABMiller has a 6% share of the Russian beer market. The company produces eight main brands, including Miller Genuine Draft, Pilsner Urquell, Velkopopovicky Kozel, Zolotaya Bochka, Tri Bogatyrya, Moya Kaluga, and also is licensed to produce Redd's and Holsten.
