Following board meeting, the directors of Scottish & Newcastle plc are pleased to announce that John Dunsmore is to be appointed Chief Executive to succeed Tony Froggatt, according to company’s press release, September 27. The appointment follows an extensive succession review conducted by the full board.

John Dunsmore (48) is at present S&N's Managing Director, Western Europe. He will take up the position of Chief Executive from November 1, 2007. Tony Froggatt has agreed to remain available to the Chairman and the board for a further three months to ensure a smooth transition.

Sir Brian Stewart, S&N Chairman, said, 'The board is very grateful to Tony for his leadership in developing the company during his time as Chief Executive, and we look forward to John Dunsmore continuing to take Scottish & Newcastle forward for the benefit of shareholders and stakeholders alike. The directors wish Tony well for the future.'

Tony Froggatt, Chief Executive, said, 'I am proud to be able to leave Scottish & Newcastle as a world-class branded beer business which is performing so well in so many dynamic markets. It's a great company, with a great management team, and I am sure it will go from strength to strength.'
