The members of “Brewers of Romania” Association - Heineken Romania, InBev Romania, United Romanian Breweries Bereprod and Ursus Breweries –announced on 31st of July that their Association will become a member of “The Brewers of Europe” as from January 1st, 2008

Founded in 1958 and based in Brussels, “The Brewers of Europe” is consider being the voice of the European brewing sector to the European institutions and international organizations. Its current members are the national brewers’ associations from 23 countries.

“It is a great honor for our organisation to be part of this large family which is The Brewers of Europe. We are looking forward to sharing experiences and working together with our colleagues from brewery sectors all over Europe”, said the President of “Brewers of Romania”, Mr. Edwin Botterman.

One of the main objectives of The Brewers of Europe is to promote the responsible consumption of beer as part of a balanced, healthy and social life style. “Our Association has fully sustained this aim till now by implementing social responsibility programs, such as the campaign which is supported by the Education Ministry and General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police. Also, we are focused on supporting the moderate and responsible beer consumption, organizing a new campaign in order to educate people not to consume alcohol when driving”, Mr. Botterman added.

“Brewers of Romania” Association was founded in December 2004 and represents more than 70% of beer volumes sold on the Romanian beer market. Its members’ contribution to the Romanian economy is substantial. They have been invested over 550 mill euro in Romania till now, contributing with over 200 mill euro to the state budget in 2006.
