The President and CEO of Big Rock Brewery, Ken Barbet, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jim Button as Vice-President, Marketing at Big Rock Brewery Income Trust, effective immediately, CCNMatthews reported May 29. Button is responsible for all marketing functions and will work with the Big Rock sales team to create synchronized, long term sales and marketing strategies.

Button, a seasoned marketing professional, has worked closely with the brewery for more than 10 years. The Calgary event marketing firm he co-founded, The Event Group, ran the Big Rock Eddies for many years, developed Big Rocktoberfests, Big Rock Games and also launched the brewery's re-branding in 1999.

Button also has extensive experience in national advertising agencies. Early in his career he worked with McLaren Lintas, Cossette Communications and JWR Advertising in Toronto. Most recently, he was Director of Public Relations and Event Marketing at Venture Communications in Calgary.

"We're pleased to have Jim back at the brewery" says Barbet, "His experience in and outside Big Rock, his knowledge of our brands and our people as well as his commitment to giving back to the community all add up to make Jim a perfect match with Big Rock." Button says it's an exciting time to rejoin the brewery: "My first project out of the gate, the one with the loudest bells ringing, is to build a program to launch Big Rock's newest product, XO Lager."

Button and Big Rock share a passion for community investment. Button has been very active in the Calgary community over the years, having worked with many not-for-profits including AIDS Calgary, Calgary Board of Education, One Yellow Rabbit, Word On The Street, Calgary Children's Hospital Foundation, and the Calgary Zoo's Zoogala.

He has been recognized with a philanthropy award from the Canadian Association of Fundraising Professionals. Calgary Inc. Magazine twice listed Button in its "40 Under 40" list and Alberta Venture Magazine recognized him with an e-Award for his Community Service.

Big Rock is a regional producer and marketer of premium quality beers, headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Big Rock's products are available in draught, bottles and cans. The company also produces or distributes cider and cooler products. Big Rock products are marketed in seven provinces and three territories in Canada.
